Internet thieves are getting more and more sophisticated. They now offer part time job opportunites, work at home offers, as well as the usual "You have won the lottery" schemes. The LATEST SCHEMES to hit the net are "CHARITY PROJECTS"- or "BELOVED IN CHRIST" - someone supposedly dying of cancer or some other terminal illness who wants to give you their fortune. CLICK HERE FOR THE LATEST SCAMS FLOODING THE INTERNET. We have compiled a list of the latest email scams. This is not a complete list- there are thousands of scams out there- but it will alert you to the latest methods being used by scam artists throughout the world.
SHOULD YOU JOIN THAT "MONEY-MAKING" PROGRAM? If you have ever joined an internet "opt-in" email list, your mailbox is probably full of money promising emails. "No Risk! Guaranteed!", "Quick and Easy!", Make Money Fast!", "Earn While You Sleep!" "Earn BIG Bucks Working at Home!" Subjects and headlines like these urge us to get in to these "Opportunity of a lifetime" scams right now, while there's a bundle of money to be made. Sure they're tempting, but DON'T BELIEVE THEM! Financial success does not come quick OR easy! First of all, anyone making these kinds of promises is BREAKING THE LAW (even though the sender may be unaware he or she is doing it.) These schemes WILL NOT make you rich! If anything, they will make you poorer! The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has recently launched "Project Fal$e Hope$" joining with state law-enforcement agencies to target alleged business opportunities and bogus work-at-home scams.According to the FTC: "Bogus business opportunities trample on dreams of financial independence that don't exist. If a business opportunity promises no risk, little effort, and big profits, it almost certainly is a scam. These scams offer only a money pit-consumers never achieve the riches and financial freedom promised." Read our article about MLM schemes!
HAVE YOU BEEN SCAMMED?Have you been scammed by some online promoter? Whether it's MLM, or anything else, please email us with the details. Feel free to include the original email with the FULL headers. (We use the headers to help us track down the original senders.) If you've received any other kind of suspicious email, we'd like to know about that, too. Our mission is to help stomp out these criminals wherever they are. But we can't do it without your help, so please keep us informed. All email will be kept confidential.

IDENTITY THEFT IS NOW THE BIGGEST CRIME IN AMERICA!!! I.D. theft is hurting millions of people around the world, but nowhere is it more prevalent than right here in America!
In 2006, I.D. theft cost Americans $7.2 BILLION dollars- that's right 7.2 BILLION! ID Thieves will stop at nothing to get your personal information-via computer, phone calls, fake appeals, even going through your garbage! Once they have your identity, they can SELL IT to whoever, or use it themselves, and it can RUIN YOUR LIFE!
A recent news article told of one woman in Florida who has finally been caught, but not before this woman, who is totally without any kind of conscience, stole and sold THOUSANDS of ID's, wreching the lives of many, many innocent people. And she is just the tip of the iceberg! ID thieves are everywhere, from grocery clerks to waiters to bank tellers to teachers to even friends and neighbors! THINK YOU'RE NOT AT RISK?

To help STOP this scourge, we have joined with the FTC in a program called: Deter. Detect. Defend. Video Click the play button to see a 10-minute educational video that provides an overview of identity theft and outlines the steps YOU can take to deter, detect, and defend yourself against it!

THE "US-NMA" MAY BE GONE- BUT...
There are more crooks to take their place. The latest one call themselves: "MyCanadian Pharmacy.Corp.".
Their modus operandi is to spam you, using some ridiculous "from" address like: "Rousing U Larder" or "Overpriced B. Betted". They use subjects like "International Legal RX", and claim to be an international operation, shipping worldwide.
The url of the site is "www.fogorgas.cn", or "www.miztrust.cn", but it is usually NOT listed in their email. They usually use a link such as "View Full Product List"
The site lists the owner as "MYCANADIANPHARMACY.CORP. 1592 Wilson Avenue, Toronto, Ontario M3L 1A6. A search of the Canadian postal records shows there is no such address. The postal code M3L 1A6 actually pertains to 1718 Wilson Avenue, which contains no buildings or businesses.

BEWARE of any email that advertises "legal" pharmacy, or meds. Remember, it's against the law to import drugs from Canada to begin with, but these "drugs" don't even come from Canada, they come from China. ALWAYS be suspect of any email where the "sender" is obviously a fake name, or the subject claims "legal" anything! Our investigation shows this "business" to be operating under fraudulent conditions, including assumed names and non-existent addresses.
Our advice: DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THESE PEOPLE! (Click here for a list of more of these spammers.)
DON'T BELIEVE THIS ONE EITHER!

| | Here is the information directly from the IRS website about this scam:The IRS does not send out unsolicited e-mails or ask for detailed personal and financial information. Additionally, the IRS never asks people for the PIN numbers, passwords or similar secret access information for their credit card, bank or other financial accounts.
The information fraudulently obtained by scammers is used to steal the taxpayer’s identity and then his or her financial assets. Generally, identity thieves use someone’s personal data to steal his or her financial accounts, run up charges on the victim’s existing credit cards, apply for new loans, credit cards, services or benefits in the victim’s name and even file fraudulent tax returns to obtain refunds rightfully belonging to the victim.
“Don’t be fooled by these shameless scam artists. The IRS doesn’t send unsolicited e-mail,” said IRS Commissioner Mark W. Everson. “Always exercise caution when you receive unsolicited e-mails or e-mails from senders you don’t know, and always verify the source.”

THE TRUTH ABOUT "FREE" IPODS Currently there are a lot of offers for "free" IPods on the internet. While most of these are not actually a scam, we advise against jumping into any "free" offer. Here's why:
Before you can get your "free" IPod, you have to give the company a lot of your personal information: your name, address, email address, date of birth, gender, even your phone number. Why? So they can use this information to bombard your email and regular mail with "offers", and to hit you at home with telemarketers. (Even if you're on the "No Call" list, once you agree to one of these offers, you have given them permission to contact you!)
You also are required to sign up for one of the other "sponsor" offers they present to you, BEFORE you get the "free" iPod! All of these offers will involve giving them your credit card number. The offers can be almost anything, from other credit card offers, to laptop computers. The people offering the "free" IPod are are paid a fee from these companies when you sign up - anywhere from $10 - $70 per sign up. And then THEY start slamming you with offers of their own. PLUS your credit card number is out there among who knows whom?
Then you have to get 5 friends or family members to sign up AND request one of their offers. (You know the "squeeze":Send us five of your friends email addresses who may be interested in this offer) If they don't sign up, you don't get the IPod!
The last thing you have to do to qualify for your "free" IPod is send them a W-9 form.(The value of the iPods must be reported as revenue on your next Income Tax return.) But that ISN'T the reason they want it! They want it so they can get
your name, address, and Social Security Number!.
It may not be a "scam", but it's a very shady way of getting personal information you don't want floating around the internet! TakeBackTheInternet.com suggests you investigate ANY "free" offer, BEFORE you jump into it. It could make a big difference in safeguarding your personal information!
NOW THEY'RE BRINGING GOD INTO THEIR SCAMS, TOO!If you receive any email with the salutation: "Dear Beloved in Christ:", it's a scam! (Click here for an example) DO NOT FALL FOR IT!
If you receive any suspicious emails from anywhere, we want to know about them! Forward the entire email, (including headers) to us at: fraud@takebacktheinternet.org
